Title:
Identification of new pathogenicity factors of Entamoeba histolytica
Research field:
Infections with the protozoan parasite Entamoeba histolytica can cause severe symptoms like hemorrhagic colitis or amoebic liver abscesses. In our research group we are interested to identify new effector molecules that are involved in the destruction of the liver tissue.
To achieve this we want to combine data obtained by molecular analyses with in vivo observations directly obtained during the process of amoebic liver invasion from recently generated E. histolytica clones with strong differences in pathogenicity.
The research group provides profound knowledge in the field of molecular biology, animal studies and intravital imaging.
Requirements:
The applicants should be experienced in molecular biology and/or imaging techniques (next generation sequencing; confocal and intravital microscopy). We expect the disposition to perform animal experiments.
A good knowledge of written English is a requirement for the position.
Stating date: March-Mai 2012
Initial contract for 2 years- with the possibility for extension for a third year
Probation period : 6 months
Salary: up to 65% of TVöD E13
