Germany: PhD position Stem Cell Biology 2012
The Institute of Diabetes and Regeneration Research is looking for a
PhD Student – Stem Cell Biology of the Pancreas m/f 2012/1401
Job Description
The overall aim of the Instiutte of Diabetes and Regeneraton Research is to understand pancreas development and regeneration by studying mouse development and using stem cells as a model system. Specific aim of this PhD project is to compare the differentiation potential of mouse embryonic stem cells (mESC), epiblast stem cells (epiSC) and induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSC) into the pancreatic lineage. Lineage labelled ES, epiSC and iPS cells were already generated and will allow to improve differentiation protocols. Eventually this will be translated to human ESC and iPSC culture for disease modeling.
Studies include derivation of stem cell lines with fluorescent-lineage reporter, single cell live imaging to improve differentiation protocols and establishing a proof-of-concept for modeling pancreas development and disease in cell culture.
