Postdoctoral position neurovascular biology at University of Zurich
A postdoctoral position is currently available in the area of neurovascular biology at the University of Zurich.
The selected individual will join a young, dynamic team investigating cell-specific interactions at the blood-brain barrier and their modulation during pathological insult (with a focus on hypoxia) using in vitro and in vivo methods. In particular, the position will utilise newly generated inducible transgenic lines to facilitate the study of hypoxic responses at the BBB and continued development of new in vitro methods. The ultimate goal of this work is obtain better understanding of the importance of cell-specific responses to facilitate the identification and refinement of new therapeutic targets and protective strategies to selectively regulate barrier integrity. The project involves a substantial amount of mouse work, cell culture, FACs analysis, microscopy and molecular/biochemical techniques.
Motivated individuals with a good PhD and solid background in transgenic mouse models, molecular biology and biochemistry are encouraged to apply. Previous experience in neuro- or vascular biology will be considered a significant advantage. Individuals with experience working with mice are also encouraged to apply. Previous applicants need not apply again.
